Not remembering your age may be a sign of maturity.

I drew this comic in 2021, to talk about a reality — that after passing a certain age, I no longer remember my age. What I drew might look like a joke, but it’s genuinely how things are for me. When someone asks about my age, I have to do the math based on the current year.

This comic got a lot of reactions after I shared it. What stood out was how people’s responses varied with their age and where they saw the post.

Because of what I do now, many of my followers on Twitter tend to be young (16-25), so most of them didn’t get what I have to say. OG Twitter post

When I posted the same image to Reddit, the response made me realize that I’m not alone in this feeling — many people around my age feel the same way. OG Reddit post

When I showed it to my family, my cousins, who are in their 30s and 40s, mentioned they've been losing track of their age since their younger days.

While these different feedbacks are all very interesting, what I ultimately realized is that there will always come a point when you’ll not remember your age. It’s not because you are forgetful — it’s just that after you have passed a certain age, how old you are will become relatively unimportant. At which point, you’d simply forget.

Not remembering your age is a sign of maturity. It shows you’re focused on your ideas and beliefs, and not on a number that’s supposed to represent how grown-up you are.
